A missile or guided weapon is an assembly of sub-systems that must each be pedigreed to the individual round: the seeker, the guidance and control section, the propulsion motor, the warhead and safe-arm, and the airframe with its avionics. Energetic and life-limited items carry batch, lot and shelf-life constraints, and every section passes a lot acceptance test before the round is integrated. When the customer is a DRDO lab or the services through DGAQA, the batch record is not paperwork, it is the deliverable.

A guided-weapon order or build lot from a DRDO lab or the services is logged with round quantities, configuration and milestones, and its specification set attached.

Components and energetic items are received by batch and lot, inspected, checked for shelf life and storage condition, and booked to segregated bonded stores.

Seeker and guidance and control sections are built under routed job cards, with sub-components linked to the section serial under configuration control.

Rocket motor and warhead sections are built and processed with strict batch, safe-arm and segregation control, each tied to its serial.
Step 4Sub-system lot acceptance
Each sub-system passes its lot acceptance test. Results are captured and only cleared lots proceed to integration.

Sections are integrated into the round, umbilical connections made, and the as-built genealogy locked to the round serial.

Airframe and avionics integration checkout, functional tests and safe-arm verification are recorded against the round before acceptance.
